HEALTHY HOMEMADE HOISIN SAUCE

HEALTHY HOMEMADE HOISIN SAUCE

I will not buy sauce or other food/product from certain country's that do not have regulations I agree with.  Therefore I have been finding new and healthy ways to substitute items so I can still have food that's tastes great.

Below is a great recipe for hoisin sauce and taste amazing!

4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons sesame oil
20 drops hot sauce
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
directions
Simply mix together. At first, it does not appear like it will mix. Just keep whisking and mixing and soon it will be smooth.

Sundried Tomato Vinaigrette

Sundried Tomato Vinaigrette

The vinaigrette is so simple and made with items most of you already have in your pantry.

(Also on another note:  a lot of you have been saying you can’t comment on the recipes. Below each blog post on the bottom right it says “Read User’s Comments” click on that and you can comment, just click on anonymous if you do not have an account set up.)

1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp pepper
pinch of salt
1/3 cup olive oil

Directions:

Blend together all ingredients except for olive oil. Blend well.

Slowly add the olive oil while the vinaigrette is being combined.

Refrigerate & keep up to one week.

Wishing you all a great holiday weekend filled with fireworks, BBQ and laughs!

HEALTHY COLESLAW RECIPE

COLESLAW DRESSING

I love Coleslaw however it can be harmful to the figure if you use a very oily or fattening dressing. This is where this wonderful recipe comes in. The dressing for this Coleslaw recipe is made with low fat yogurt and no mayonnaise, full of protein instead of just fat.

Simply whip up this dressing and pour it over your shredded cabbage and carrots (Sometimes I add some shredded green apple or radish to the mix). You can make the combination as you prefer it, there are no rules.

Here is the dressing recipe:
Ingredients
3/4 cup nonfat yogurt
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons caraway seeds

Directions
In a large bowl whisk together the yogurt, vinegar, honey, salt, pepper and caraway seeds.  Leave in fridge until needed then pour on top of coleslaw mix and serve.  I always give another shot of pepper and some caraway seeds to finish it off.

Very refreshing recipe!
